We love to hear about what students have been doing outside of school, especially when it relates to learning in the classroom. This week Ben W (7-9) provided a fabulous presentation in Geography about Coral Reefs in the Cayman Islands. There is also so much news from students involved in sport outside of school. Callum R (11-9) featured on BBC South News with his basketball team the Whiteley Warriors. In sailing, a massive ‘well done’ to Emily B (10-4), Freddie C (9-2) and Thomas R (10-4) who represented the southern region at the RYA Eric Twiname Championships at Rutland Water Sailing Club over the Bank Holiday weekend. Congratulations to Emily who was the 3rd girl in the Single-Handed Topper Fleet and Freddie and Thomas who were 2nd boys in the Double-Handed RA Feva Fleet.

It is so wonderful working with such a talented and hardworking student population – We are so proud of you all!

A Message from the Neighbourhood Policing Team

Dear Parents/ Carers

We’re appealing to you as the nights remain lighter for longer and the summer months are fast approaching.

Will you get a phone call about your child and need to attend police custody, hospital or worse?

Unfortunately tonight Officers have had to attend an incident where an 11-year-old child was injured, requiring the assistance from the team at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and South Central Ambulance Service. This was following the child being in a place where they shouldn’t and making a rather large error in judgement. Thankfully the children on-scene knew what to do and get the right assistance to them. The child is not thought to be in a life threatening or life changing condition.

Our appeal to you, as a parent, is to ask your child the following questions before they go out:

  • Where are they going?
  • What are they doing?
  • Who are they going with?
  • Do they know what to do in an emergency?

We know kids will always test the parenting boundaries laid down but please take the time to explain why it’s important that you know the answers to the previous questions. If it stops one child from getting seriously injured or arrested, it will be worth it. Stay safe.

Parent Forum

We would like to invite you to the next Parent Forum which will take place on the evening of Wednesday 18 May from 5:30pm until 6:30pm in the main hall.

Parents and carers of children in all years are welcome. For those who haven’t been before, there are presentations, discussions and opportunities to ask questions and express views and opinions.

The subject of the next forum is ‘Uniform’. We will be joined by Mrs Pennginton-Chick – Deputy Headteacher and Mrs S Valleley – Assistant Headteacher. You feedback, along with input from staff and students, will be used to review our current uniform policy. Please note that this will be a general discussion and we will not be able to comment on specific individual issues.

Please book your place by going to our electronic ticket website: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-hamble-school or use the QR Code below. This will open at 8am on Monday 9 May. Tickets will be limited and we ask that you book one ticket for each parent/ carer wishing to attend.
