Initial Teacher Training (ITT)
Promoting Excellence in Teaching and Learning
The Hamble School is proud of its commitment to develop teachers new to the profession. We work in partnership with a variety of providers to deliver a tailored programme of development and help many new teachers take their first steps onto the career ladder.
The Hamble School currently works in partnership with three local universities (University of Portsmouth, University of Southampton, and University of Winchester) and the i2i and Rural Schools Alliance School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programmes. We provide placements for PGCEs and SCITT trainees in several departments.
Every year The Hamble School hosts approximately 10 PGCEs/SCITT trainee teachers. Our 2025 cohort achieved a 100% pass rate and all students who applied for jobs went on to secure teaching positions for September.
We also offer short placements and visits to aspiring teachers who want to know more about secondary school pedagogy, teaching in a fast-developing school and how to start working in education.
Please see below some information from our partner, i2i Teaching Partnership SCITT.
