Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

Promoting Excellence in Teaching and Learning

The Hamble School is proud of its commitment to develop teachers new to the profession. We work in partnership with a variety of providers to deliver a tailored programme of development and help many new teachers take their first steps onto the career ladder.

Developing Teachers of the Future – Wildern Partnership

One of the providers we work with is Wildern Partnership (in association with i2i Teaching Partnership)* as our local training partner [this can be amended so that schools can insert and list here the training providers you work with and hyperlink their websites]

Our school provides the ideal opportunity to undertake and complete your teacher training. We offer expert in-school support through subject staff who are trained and qualified in mentoring skills, how trainees learn and knowledge relating to each provider’s training curriculum.

We aim to offer teaching opportunities across all key stages, allowing you complete immersion into the school environment.

*Wildern Partnership is excited to announce from 2024/25 they will be a Lead Partner in a new collaboration with i2i Teaching Partnership. i2i is Ofsted rated outstanding and is a well established specialist secondary accredited training provider based at Weydon School.

Wildern Partnership as a Lead Partner will be offering high quality secondary teacher training across Hampshire and the wider area

Professional development continues beyond the initial teacher training year and the Wildern Partnership offers opportunities for teachers to continue with their own learning. A significant advantage of working within the Partnership is the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues from other schools and to jointly develop practice.

The Hamble School also works in partnership with four local universities (Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester and Chichester) and the Wildern partnership. We provide placements for PGCEs and SCITT trainees in several departments. Every year The Hamble School hosts around 10 PGCEs/SCITT trainees with a success rate of 100%.

We also offer short placements and visits to aspiring teachers who want to know more about secondary school pedagogy, teaching in a fast-developing school and how to start working in education.
