Last week we enjoyed welcoming the new Year 7s to The Hamble School. They had a good two days meeting key members of staff and trying some lessons. Thank you to the Transition Prefects who did a great job looking after them all. We started our Academic Transition last Wednesday and staff from the English, Maths, Science and MFL departments delivered lessons in the feeder primary schools. Miss Cambridge also visited for our Proud Celebration and handed out certificates to students at Netley Abbey Junior School and Bursledon Junior School. We will be visiting Hamble Primary this week.
We have had plenty of trips and visits this week. On Monday our PE Department took students to Wimbledon, on Tuesday and Friday students visited Woodmill and on Wednesday our Year 7s went to Paultons Park. Everyone had a great time and these were all very successful trips.
On Friday our Year 11 students had an amazing time at Prom. This was a real celebration and a great chance for the Class of 2025 to get together after their exams. Feedback was really positive and we would like to thank Mrs Barkshire and her team for organising everything.
At the start of this week the weather looks cooler, therefore students need to wear blazers (and ties) on Monday and Tuesday. We will review the weather again on Tuesday and it does nook like it maybe getting warmer again near the end of the week.
A reminder that Hampshire County Council will be hosting a drop-in session at 6pm tomorrow in the Progress Zone for the proposal for a Resourced Provision for students with Autism (ASC). Parents/ Carers from The Hamble School are welcome to attend.

Theme of the Week
Next week, our school is dedicating its assembly and tutor programme to a crucial theme: cyber safety and anti-bullying. In an increasingly digital world, equipping our students with the knowledge and resilience to navigate online spaces safely is more vital than ever.
What makes this programme particularly impactful is that it will be delivered by our own dedicated team of school Cyber Ambassadors. These highly trained students have been empowered to share their expertise and insights on various aspects of online safety, from identifying and reporting cyberbullying to understanding privacy settings and the dangers of misinformation.
Through engaging assemblies and tutor sessions, our Cyber Ambassadors will foster peer-to-peer learning, creating a safe and relatable environment for students to discuss concerns and learn best practices. Topics covered will include the impact of cyberbullying, responsible social media use, recognizing online scams, and knowing where to seek help if they encounter issues.
We encourage you to discuss these important topics with your children at home, reinforcing the messages they will receive in school. Together, we can empower our young people to be responsible, respectful, and resilient digital citizens
Year 6 Transition
A Warm Welcome to Our New Year 7s!
Last Monday and Tuesday, we were delighted to host our new Year 7 students for their transition induction days. It was a truly brilliant couple of days, and it was wonderful to see so many excited faces ready to embark on their secondary school journey.
Our incoming students had a fantastic time getting to know each other, making new friends, and beginning to build those important connections that will last throughout their school lives. They also had the opportunity to meet some of their new teachers, getting a taste of the subjects they will be studying and the vibrant learning environment that awaits them. A key part of the induction was also helping them to build a relationship with their new form tutors, who will be a central point of contact and support for them as they settle in.
The energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and we were incredibly proud of how well all the students engaged with the activities and embraced this first step into their new school. We have no doubt they will quickly become valued members of our school community. We are already looking forward to officially welcoming them all back in September for what promises to be an exciting and successful start to their secondary school adventure.
Matilda Production
We are very excited about the whole school production of Matilda which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday evening. There are still tickets available and these can be purchased via Scopay.
We are delighted that the PTA will have refreshments available to buy and an amazing raffle. They have managed to sources some fantastic prizes, it will be well worth joining in!
If you do have any raffle prizes that you would like to donate to the school, please do give them to your child to bring to the SLT Office or hand in at reception on Monday/ Tuesday.
Year 10 Taster Days
Year 10 College Taster Days will continue this week. These will be held at:
Fareham College, Tuesday 8 July
Eastleigh College, Wednesday 9 July
CEMAST Thursday, Thursday 10 July
We will have school staff on hand at each event to support students if needed.
The whole day event will provide students with a real opportunity to think about life post-GSCEs, as well as finding out more about the ways in which they can best prepare themselves for their continued education at a sixth form college.
The event will take place from 9am to 12:15pm and students will get to experience two chosen lessons; students will not be required to return to school after the event. Students will need to take their own lunch if required and any refreshments. The college has requested that students wear school PE kit and closed non-slip shoes. Learners who are doing workshops in engineering, motor vehicle or construction, must wear long trousers. It is important to note that for this event, students are expected to arrange their own transport to and from the college. If Parents/ Carers are dropping students off at Fareham College, you will not be able to enter the car park, but can drop and pick up students at the drop off bay at the front of the college.
We hope everyone enjoys these exciting events to support their Post 16 planning.
Sports Day
Sports Day will take place on Tuesday 15 July. All students are expected to attend school in full PE Kit, which will be worn for the duration of the day.
Please ensure you are prepared by bringing:
- Sufficient water to stay hydrated
- Appropriate sun protection (e.g. hat, sunscreen) if warm weather is forecast
Please note: Students who are not in the correct PE Kit will be required to borrow spare PE Kit.
Tell us what you think about changes to where you live
A message from Hampshire County Council:
Big changes are planned to councils in your area.
This means some important things (like schools, services for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, housing, social care, libraries, public transport, and protecting the environment) might be done differently. This could affect you, people you know, and your local area.
You can help us decide what these changes could look like. Your voice matters to make sure the new councils in your area work for young people too.
Please complete the survey at https://hampshirecc.welcomesyourfeedback.net/LGR-CYP-survey to have your say on this important subject.
The information you provide will be confidential and you do not need to tell us anything personal. It should only take about five to ten minutes to complete this survey. The survey closes at 11:59pm on 22 July 2025.
If you want to know more about these changes then please visit our website at https://www.hants.gov.uk/lgr.

Site Update
The school’s external redecoration programme has been completed on time. All buildings have been repainted or washed down over the last eight weeks.
Sydney Recladding
Our next phase of work on school site is the recladding works of the Sydney block. The Local Authority are investing £3m into this project and the building will benefit from:
- Insulated brick slip and render sections to replace the current external fabric
- High-performance roofing system with new insulation and Solar Panels
- Natural Ventilation Heat Recycling (NVHR) system
- Lighting upgrades
- Thermally efficient windows
This work will make full use of the summer break and is scheduled to finish in Spring 2026, before exams. We have already had additional classrooms installed onsite and in the coming weeks there will be some more preparation works.
A builder’s compound is going to be constructed behind the swimming pool area and there will be HERAS fencing the running through site to the Sydney building. This is essential to maintain a safe working environment but will have an impact on the parking available on school site.
