Theme of the Week – House Competitions

Next week’s assemblies are focused on our School Houses and an update on the ongoing House Competition.

We will be revealing the current totals for our Houses based on the accumulated House points so far, this academic year. This will give students a clear picture of how their House is performing and fuel some friendly rivalry and competition as we head into the final half-term of the summer term.

The assembly will also provide an overview of the fantastic House events planned for the remainder of the term. These events offer valuable opportunities for students to collaborate, showcase their talents, and earn crucial points for their Houses. We will be highlighting key dates and encouraging maximum participation.

Adding to the excitement, we will be sharing some thrilling updates about this year’s Sports Day! Finally, a portion of the assembly will be dedicated to providing students with feedback from our recent Ofsted visit. We believe it’s important for our students to understand the outcomes and to celebrate their part on achieving our very positive report – yet another reason to be proud of their school.

We encourage you to discuss the House competitions and upcoming events with your child. Your support in fostering a positive and competitive spirit within our House system is greatly appreciated.

Tutor Programme

Next week’s tutor personal development programme will be focused on celebrating the rich diversity within our school’s House system. We believe that the unique blend of backgrounds, perspectives, and talents within each house contributes significantly to a more positive and enriching school community for all our students.

The programme will explore how this diversity strengthens our school environment, fostering understanding and empathy amongst students. Tutors will be guiding discussions and activities that highlight the importance of inclusivity and the positive impact it has on teamwork, creativity, and overall well-being.

A key focus of the session will be on demonstrating our Fundamental British Values of Tolerance and Mutual respect. Students will be encouraged to reflect on how embracing differences and showing consideration for one another builds a stronger and more harmonious House and school community.

Expectations

A reminder that students are expected to come to school in full uniform every day. As the weather gets warmer (we hope!) they do not need to wear school jumpers but blazers are required. School shorts are also available direct from Skoolkit.

Please also check that your child has all the correct equipment and packs their bag the night before so that they remember books for the next day. The uniform and equipment requirements are here: https://www.thehambleschool.co.uk/uniform/

We ask that Parents/ Carers check Class Charts every day as this is our main form for personalised communication. You will find information on rewards/ sanctions, attendance and homework on their platform. If you need support with login information, please email classcharts@thehambleschool.co.uk

Year 11 Update

A reminder that Year 11 GCSE Exams continue. Students are expected to be in school following the top up/ warm up programme until after the Science Exam on Monday 16 June 2025. The next few weeks will make a real difference to their grades and although exams have been completed in some subjects, the vast majority still have ‘all to play for’. Final hints/ tips and revision reminders from teachers are very important.

If there are any subjects that your child has finished all exams for, they will be able to complete independent study in the subject and therefore are advised to bring in revision materials and guides.

Celebrating Achievements

Our newsletter, which was emailed to Parents/ Carers on the final week of last half-term highlights many achievements in all areas of school life. If you have not had a chance to read it, please do so here: https://www.thehambleschool.co.uk/newsletter/
