It has been great to welcome students back into school this week. They have started Summer Term 2 very effectively and have got straight into learning. Year 11s continue with their GCSE exams and Year 10 begin their end of year exams next week with the Art Exam and English Spoken Language.
Well done to the Year 10s who completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition this weekend; the weather was very wet at times but students demonstrated resilience and determination. It was also good to see so many Year 11 students in school today for the Sunday Statistics and Maths revision – Your hard work will pay off.
We have just launched our Summer Term tours for prospective students in Year 5, who are due to go to secondary school in September 2026. If you have a child in Year 5 or know any friends/ relatives with younger children, please do encourage them to come and see the school ‘in action’.
Next week is WEEK 2

This Week at the Dinner Table
- What is the most endangered animal on the planet right now?
- Is bottled water bad for you?
- Do you think the Earth will ever run out of water?
- What would happen if everyone in the world stopped recycling?
- What is the single most harmful thing humans are doing to the planet?
Theme of the Week – The Environment
As we head into next week, our school community will be dedicating our assembly and tutor programme to a critically important theme: looking after our environment. This focus is particularly timely as we acknowledge both World Environment Day (5 June) and World Oceans Day (8 June). These global observances serve as powerful reminders of our collective responsibility to protect our planet.
Throughout the week in tutor time, students will participate in engaging activities and discussions designed to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire positive action. Our assemblies will highlight the beauty and fragility of our natural world, emphasising how individual choices can contribute to a healthier planet. Tutor groups will delve deeper into topics such as sustainable practices, reducing waste, and the vital role our oceans play in supporting life on Earth.
Students will also get an update about the fantastic work of our school’s Eco-Ambassadors this academic year. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved. Their dedication has been truly inspiring. Their efforts are making a tangible difference within our school and setting a wonderful example for all students.
We encourage you to discuss these important environmental themes with your children at home. Simple conversations about recycling, conserving water, or appreciating nature can reinforce the messages they receive at school and foster a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us raise environmentally conscious young people.
Work Experience
Students who have signed up for Work Experience will be receiving their confirmed places this half term. Students must keep an eye on their account by logging back in to the EBP system. Their details were sent to via Class Charts. Students will receive a confirmation letter via their tutor when your place has been secured.
If students want help making the phone calls to the employer, please speak to Mrs Turner at lunchtimes in T3.

If you would like to hear information about Apprenticeships and Technical awards the Hampshire Careers Hub are hosting an information event online on Tuesday 1 July at 6pm.
This event has been designed to inform you of the values and structure of Apprenticeships and T Levels and compare them confidently with academic routes like A-levels and University so you can support your children in making realistic and informed choices.

Year 10 Exams
A reminder that our Year 10 End of Year examinations will be taking place from Monday 9 June to Friday 11 July 2025.
These examinations represent far more than just another assessment period – they are a valuable opportunity for our students to familiarise themselves with the examination process in readiness for their crucial Year 11 examinations. Think of this as a ‘dress rehearsal for the main performance’, allowing our young people to build confidence and develop effective examination techniques in a supportive environment.
You have already received a copy of the Year 10 Exam Timetable. To support your son or daughter in their revision journey, we have created a comprehensive revision booklet containing revision links and topics, which can be found on our school website at https://www.thehambleschool.co.uk/revision/. Additionally, teachers have placed extra revision resources on Class Charts to ensure students have access to all the materials they need to succeed.
For students who have already been assessed for Access Arrangements, please be assured that these will be in place for the examinations. We will also use these examinations as an opportunity to make further assessments regarding any Access Arrangements students may require for Year 11, ensuring every child receives the support they need.
We encourage you to discuss these examinations with your child and support them in establishing a regular revision routine in preparation for each subject. Your encouragement and involvement make such a significant difference to their confidence and performance.
Please note that some examinations will continue after the end of the normal school day, mirroring the format of real GCSEs. It is essential that you arrange how your child will travel home after these extended examinations, as all students are expected to remain until completion.
Should your child have any queries regarding their examinations, we would encourage them to speak initially with their form tutor, who will provide advice and support. For any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at general@thehambleschool.co.uk
Please ensure that for every written exam you child comes to school with:
- A clear pencil case or plastic wallet to put equipment in
- At least two black ink pens
- An approved calculator for relevant exams
- Appropriate apparatus such as a ruler or protractor for relevant exams
- A clear water bottle, if you wish to take one in with the label removed.
