At The Hamble School the Library (LRC) is a key focal point for students in both Key Stages 3 and 4. There is a huge emphasis on reading in all curriculum areas and we have implemented the Accelerated Reader reading scheme to support our students in Key Stage 3. This scheme not only gives us valuable guidance on reading ages but clearly promotes reading for pleasure and enjoyment.
We have hosted many successful author events and our students have been able to meet some of their favourite authors. These events continue to support our ‘reading for pleasure’ message. In addition, we hold regular competitions for all students to take part in.
Students are able to use the LRC facilities from 7.30am Monday-Thursday and at break and lunch times. There is a printer available for any students that need to print off their coursework.
Any students requiring either help or a place to do their homework are encouraged to come along to the Learning Support (T2) department after school to use the facilities. Homework club runs until 4pm every day. The club is run by teaching and support staff who are here to help with any homework issues students may have.
