We hope that all members of The Hamble School community enjoyed a restful and refreshing half-term break. It is a pleasure to welcome everyone back as we begin the final half of the academic year—Summer Term 2—a time that is always filled with energy, achievement and celebration. School starts tomorrow at 8:30am! 8:20am for those Year 11s who have an exam in morning.
This is an important and exciting period for our students. Our Year 11 students continue to demonstrate real commitment and resilience as they progress through their GCSE examinations. We have been particularly proud of the many students who have attended school during the half-term break for revision sessions, showing determination and a positive attitude towards their studies. Their dedication has been commendable and we wish them every success in the weeks ahead.
Summer Term 2 also brings with it many opportunities beyond the classroom. From trips and enrichment activities to sports events and transition work with our incoming Year 6 students, this is a busy time of year that showcases the very best of our school community.
As always, we remain committed to providing a supportive and purposeful environment where every student can thrive. Thank you to our families and staff for your ongoing support—we look forward to a successful and rewarding end to the academic year together.

Assembly and Tutor Personal Development Programme
As we head into the final half-term of the year, this week, our focus across both assemblies and tutor time is centred around celebrating our vibrant House system and the unique individuals who make it so successful.
This Week’s Assembly: Summer Term 1 House Update
This week, our assembly will feature a highly anticipated House Update. We will be looking back at a brilliant Summer Term 1, revealing the latest House point totals, and officially announcing which House is currently in the lead!
It has been an action-packed term, and we are incredibly proud of the students who have thrown themselves into such a wide variety of events. During the assembly, we will be celebrating the winners and sharing the results from all of our recent inter-house competitions:
- Hampshire Young Poets: Recognizing the brilliant literary talents of our student writers.
- Smash Bros Finals: Highlighting the quick reflexes and tactical brilliance of our eSports champions.
- Photography Competition: Showcasing stunning visual interpretations of our theme: explore the idea of crossing a boundary or going beyond something.
- Inter-House Tennis: Celebrating the fantastic sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill displayed on the courts.
- Library Bookmarks: Admiring the beautiful designs created to serve as a lasting legacy to inspire future readers at The Hamble School.
- Tunnock’s Teacake Challenge: Appreciating the culinary creativity, precision, and presentation of our fantastic student home-design finalists.
Tutor Programme Focus: The Power of Diversity
Following the excitement of the assembly, this week’s Tutor Programme will focus on the theme of diversity within our Houses.
When we look at the sheer variety of competitions we have held recently—from poetry and photography to tennis, baking, and gaming—it becomes incredibly clear that our Houses thrive because of the different talents, perspectives, and backgrounds of our students.
During tutor time, students will explore how this diversity makes our school community richer, stronger, and more dynamic. We will be discussing how embracing our individual differences allows us to learn from one another, support each other’s unique strengths, and ultimately achieve great things together as a team.
We look forward to celebrating your achievements and exploring these important themes in school this week.
Year 10 to Year 11 Transition Week
A reminder that this week our Year 10 students will take part in a dedicated Transition Week as they prepare for the important step into Year 11. Throughout the week, students will engage in our Achieving Excellence Programme, designed to develop effective revision and study skills that will support them in their upcoming Year 10 examinations and beyond. This will be reinforced through focused tutor time and lessons, ensuring students build strong, sustainable habits as they move into their final year.
The week will begin with a launch assembly and will include a full introduction to the Year 11 programme, ensuring students understand expectations, key milestones and how intervention support will be structured to help them succeed.
A key element of the week will be our PSHCRE Day on Thursday 4 June, which will focus on careers, applications, CV writing and interview skills. As part of this, students will take part in our Mock Interview Day, supported by volunteers from a range of professional backgrounds, who will provide invaluable experience and feedback to help students develop confidence in professional settings and begin to think seriously about their future pathways.
We would like to remind Parents/Carers and students about the important evening on Tuesday 2 June. This Achieving Excellence Evening is a vital opportunity to prepare both students and families for the demands of Year 11, and attendance is strongly encouraged. Please save the date and sign up using the following link: https://forms.office.com/e/XrSNdereqS
During the week, Student Leadership positions will also be launched, with students encouraged to begin considering and preparing their applications for these important roles within the school community.
The Year 10 examination timetable has been distributed, giving students the opportunity to plan and begin their revision.
The week will conclude with a celebratory event to recognise students’ engagement and achievements, including a Year 10 BBQ and activities afternoon—a great way to mark the end of a purposeful and forward-looking week. Please do make a voluntary contribution of £3 on Scopay. Students will be able to select their activity from Class Charts early next week.
We look forward to supporting all of our Year 10 students as they take this exciting next step.
Year 8 PSHCRE Event: Equipping Students with Financial Life Skills
This Tuesday all Year 8 students will be participating in a specialised PSHCRE (Personal, Social, Health, Careers and Religious Education) event focused on essential financial literacy.
We are delighted to welcome the expert team from MoneyReady, who will be spending an hour with our students to deliver an engaging and practical workshop on managing personal finances. As our students grow and become more independent, understanding how money works in the real world is a vital life skill.
During the session, the Money Ready team will guide students through the fundamentals of Budgeting, Banking, and Daily Spending, covering several key areas:
- Smart Budgeting: How to plan finances effectively and prepare for unexpected costs.
- Navigating the Banking System: A practical look at bank accounts, how interest and overdrafts work, and the essentials of reading bank statements and managing digital finance.
- The World of Work: Decoding the terminology of earning, including understanding wages, payslips, income tax, and National Insurance.
- Spending Wisely: Mastering the critical difference between financial “needs” and “wants” to make informed daily spending decisions.
Financial education is crucial for empowering young people to make confident, responsible choices both now and in their adult lives. This workshop is designed to demystify money management and give our Year 8s a head start in understanding the economic world around them.
A quick tip for Parents/ Carers: This event provides a fantastic opportunity to start conversations about money at home! We encourage you to ask your child what they learned from the Money Ready team this week and perhaps share some of your own practical tips for budgeting and wise spending.

With the recent warmer weather (and cooler conditions forecast next week), we would like to remind students and families of our uniform expectations:
- Jumpers are optional at this time.
- Blazers must be worn to and from school and around the site.
- Blazers may be removed during lessons where appropriate.
For added comfort in warmer conditions, school shorts are available from Skoolkit and are currently reduced to £5:
